At ClinOpsHub, team building is not something we organise simply out of obligation and then archive in a folder full of photographs. Creating opportunities to spend time together is a choice we make year after year with genuine enthusiasm, because we believe that the quality of our work also depends on the quality of the relationships between the people who carry it out.
Over the past few months, we have shared two very different experiences in terms of distance, duration and atmosphere, yet both tell the same story: our desire to get to know one another better, beyond professional roles and deadlines.
A Weekend in Vienna, Between Christmas Markets and Culture
Our first destination, in December, took us beyond Italy’s borders for three days in Vienna, immersed in the city’s distinctive Christmas atmosphere.
We arrived amid the lights of the Prater, Europe’s oldest amusement park, surrounded by illuminated Ferris wheels and the scent of mulled wine, accompanied by plenty of smiles. Our first evening ended with dinner in a themed restaurant, where dishes travelled directly to the tables on a miniature railway. Between laughter and attempts to work out who would manage to claim their order first, the evening flew by.
The following day, Vienna revealed its more majestic side. We admired the spires of St Stephen’s Cathedral rising above the Christmas market stalls, experienced the almost sacred silence of the Austrian National Library’s halls and enjoyed a sweet break with a slice of Sachertorte before heading into the colourful bustle of the Naschmarkt for lunch.
The afternoon offered one of the most memorable moments of the trip: visiting the Upper Belvedere and seeing Gustav Klimt’s The Kiss in person, an artwork capable of leaving you speechless, even after seeing it countless times in photographs. The day ended around a table, with conversation, laughter and some of the most generous portions of schnitzel in the city.
On our final morning, before travelling home, we took things slowly. We walked past the shop windows of Mariahilfer Straße and stopped at one of Vienna’s many historic cafés, surrounded by dark wood, nineteenth-century chandeliers and the traditional Melange, served with its ever-present glass of water. For a moment, this small ritual made us feel part of early twentieth-century Vienna.
The meaningful glances, laughter and sense of connection that developed so naturally and playfully were the most valuable gifts we brought home from the trip.
Team building ClinOpsHub: a Day in Puglia, Between Clay and Traditional Farmhouses
Our second and more recent experience was organised to celebrate the beginning of summer, our favourite season.
This time, we travelled only a few kilometres from home, rediscovering the area in which we work every day from a different perspective. Above all, the experience reminded us of the great privilege of living in such a beautiful region.
The day began in Grottaglie, Puglia’s ceramics capital, inside a traditional workshop where the smell of wet clay and the focused silence of manual craftsmanship created an atmosphere suspended in time.
A master ceramicist introduced us to centuries of craftsmanship through his tools, including a wood-fired kiln and a foot-powered potter’s wheel. He then invited us to shape the clay ourselves. Each of us sat at our own wheel, with dirty hands and the laughter that naturally comes from making mistakes together.
There is something about that slow, imperfect gesture that forces you to pause and ask for help from the person beside you. It is something that rarely happens during an ordinary working day and, precisely for this reason, it made us reflect on the importance of mutual support.
From Grottaglie, we travelled to a historic local masseria, surrounded by stables, ancient woodland and a carefully maintained vegetable garden.
We then visited the dairy, where, amid warm steam and the unmistakable aroma of fresh cheese, a master cheesemaker guided us through the production of mozzarella, burrata and stracciatella. We were able to take part directly, trying our hand at stretching and shaping the cheese.
After visiting the ageing room, where caciocavallo and canestrato cheeses hung to dry like something from a painting of another era, it was time for lunch. We gathered around a generous table filled with local specialities, accompanied by excellent Puglian wine and the long conversations that naturally develop when people feel comfortable together (and when we are enjoying our favourite team activity: eating)!
The day ended with a moment of pure entertainment: milking the cows. There was plenty of laughter, along with a few startled screams, as might be expected when a group accustomed to sitting in front of computer screens suddenly comes face-to-face with a cow.
One Common Thread
These experiences were very different in terms of setting, distance and pace: a weekend abroad on one hand and a day immersed in the Puglian countryside on the other.
However, they shared the same common thread: spending time together away from everyday pressures gives people the opportunity to get to know one another in a way that no meeting can replicate.
More Than Just Leisure
Our weekend in Vienna ended with a simple message: a journey is not only about reaching a destination, but also about having the opportunity to grow together.
During our day in Puglia, we also dedicated time to a more business-focused activity: a final briefing to align the team around ClinOpsHub’s vision and mission. These are essential elements that connect our daily work with the company’s values and strategic direction.
It is no coincidence that both experiences, despite being so different, led us to the same conclusion: team spirit is something that must be built together, one experience at a time. It cannot be taken for granted, nor can it develop exclusively within the walls of an office.
Our HR Department will continue to organise these initiatives with dedication because we believe that people, even before professionals, are ClinOpsHub’s most important asset.
